Nestled on the pristine island of Thelu Veliga, located in the South Ari Atoll, approximately 90 km southwest of the capital, Malé, Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat boasts of its own magnificent house reef. The property is a 35-minute seaplane ride away from Malé International Airport.

The villas are tastefully designed to evoke the authentic, unspoilt charm of the Maldives. All are equipped with a minibar and tea/coffee maker and the private bathrooms include a hairdryer and toiletries derived from organic teas. Some villas have private access to the beach while some are poised over the island’s turquoise lagoon.

Guests can pamper themselves at the Intimate Spa by THEMAE or partake in activities such as snorkelling, diving, wind surfing and kayaking; where all can be arranged at an additional cost. In addition the resort offers a menu of bespoke romantic experiences and excursions which may be arranged upon request. The property has Chinese speaking staff.

Dining highlights include the restaurant that serves a variety of cuisines including local seafood with continental and Asian flavours. Other dining options, such as in-villa, on-the-beach private dinners and seafood BBQs may also be arranged for guests upon request. Guests can also enjoy refreshing beverages and light dishes at the sunset-facing bar and lounge.

To consider

The resort will arrange for a sea plane round trip transfers to the resort from Malé International Airport.

Please note that guests must advise arrival and departure flight details along with the flight number, name of the airline and estimated time of arrival/departure at the time of booking, at least 48 hours prior to arrival. Otherwise, the seaplane transfer may cause a delay.

Please note that children from 2 years to 10 years cannot be accommodated at the hotel.

Please note that the connecting transfer can only be arranged from 09:00 to 17:00 daily, kindly send your flight details after making a confirmed reservation.

All Inclusive Package Comprises the following :
Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner served at the Main Restaurant.
• Selection of tea, coffee, soft drinks, juices, water, draught beer and house wine by the glass with meals at the Main Restaurant.
• Lunch at the Main Bar form the All-Inclusive Snack Menu between 12:30 AM — 02:30 PM, with the credit amount of US$20 per adult per day.
• Unlimited access to soft drinks, juices, draught beer, wine by the glass, selection of house wines by the glass (Red, White and Rose, depending on availability), select house pouring Spirits (whisky, vodka, rum, and gin) at the Main Bar from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• Unlimited cocktails from the All-Inclusive Beverage Menu and 1 special cocktail of the day per person per day.
• Afternoon snacks at the Main Bar from 4:00 PM — 5:00 PM.
• Unlimited use of snorkeling equipment.
• Unlimited use of select non-motorized water sports equipment depending on availability.
• One shared group fishing excursion per person during the stay.
• In Villa tea and coffee facilities.

Paradise on Earth

Drift is real paradise on earth. Calm, relaxing and unique. Great spot for snorkeling. Food is good. Staff is polite.

Sun chairs in water villas are not comfortable. Fruit choice is limited. Drinks are very expensive (we did not have all inclusive package), but if you want to be in the paradise, you need to pay some extra money.

The view, rooms and most importantly the Padi diving centre.

Found the food options a bit limited at times, even though allergy information was given to the hotel.

Wonderful

Amazing place everything was perfect. Beautiful island and villas, private, well designed. Reef very good for snorkeling. Food was delicious, huge thanks to the Chef and Staff who made our stay unforgettable (I will dream about beetroot curry and pad thai )

If you consider to book with breakfast only, dont, take the option with meals. Services are quite expensive but that is something you should expect

Amazing stay !!!

Fantastic stay. I loved everything about drift thelu. Amazing food , staff are wonderful, beautiful rooms and really clean. It’s a small island, perfect to relax and rest. We saw baby sharks, dolphins, beautiful fishes and even star fishes. I want to go back so badly. Beautiful stay

Lack of options for food - we went through a lot of the menu over 5 days. But it is a small island so totally understandable, and the chef was great!

Exceptional

Drift is a small small resort with a wonderful house reef. We saw sharks, plenty of dish, beautiful corals and was fortunate to meet two turtles several times. We stayed in a water villa and a beach villa. Both was very nice, but the water villa felt lux and we really enjoyed the direct access to the reef. The staff was extremely professional with a polite yet relaxed attitude. The food was also great, good selection and everything we ate was fresh and tasty (we are gourmet eaters..) Execpt enjoying the ocean, there is not much to do except relaxing. Our daughter had a massage and it was very good. Don't miss going down to the yetti at 21:00 to watch the large amount of nurse sharks and other fish, feeding in the light from the yetti.

Amazing peaceful place

It is a small beautiful island , the resort is for adults only , so if you want to relax and to be in a peaceful quiet place that’s the right resort for you. We stayed in a water villa and i was impressed that the rooms looked exactly like in the pictures on the website. It’s peaceful and beautiful, we saw baby nurse sharks , rays, swimming near the villa, lots of colourful fish straight from your water villa where you can snorkel too. The staff is very very polite and nice, friendly, helpful. We had a boat trip and we saw big turtle and dolphins. You walk mainly on sand , so no need to pack to many shoes . They make up the room twice per day . On our last night, we got a beautiful surprise on our bed written by flowers and leafs “good night”.

The coffe is not good :(

A paradise to refill your batteries

The island is very small and cozy, since there is few people around at all times it becomes a paradise for relaxation. Staff was extremely gentle and supportive at all times; also the food was excellent and you get plenty of choice every day, with lots of variations. The beach villas (we booked one of these) are well spaced, with all the comforts, and obviously the sea was amazing.

Outdoor activities are subject to cancellations due to weather conditions, and they are also very expensive, like anything which is not included in your package, so please purchase the correct option accordingly to your needs.

Really satisfied with their good services. The environment is good and quiet. Highly recommended those couple who seek for quite place to enjoy the romantic environment. We were here for honeymoon and we got a free massage service as honeymoon compliment.

The Island it is nice and tiny, with few people, and the beach bungalows, where we were staying are very nice, with a nice view and a beautiful beach in front of them.

In the beginning we got room number 1, room number 1 and 2 are on the north side of the island and close to where the boats and airplane arrive so it is noisy and with less privacy but the biggest turn back is that the north side it is very windy, especially in summer, and the view it is not as nice as the south side. If you go there rooms number 5,6,7 and 8 and are the best. The staff of the hotel, except a couple people, is very young and not really able to do their job, sometimes they took away the room towels without bringing clean ones, if you order something from the room, as simple as a beer, it takes more than 1 hour to arrive, sometimes they come to clean the room in the morning and sometimes they come at 5 in the afternoon and at the restaurant there is always something missing, like a fork, a glass or they don't come to bring you the water etc...In a Hotel in this category I think this is unacceptable. Another huge let down was that the coral of the barrier reef around the island is all dead, this is not fault of the Hotel since it was probably due to the Tsunami of 2004, but it is something to take in consideration when you book.

Amazing place for snorkeling. Food was really good. Staff at the bar and restaurant were really nice (especially Elias). Not a big resort so we felt we were the only guests in the island many times.

Quiet, beautiful you can see some babies sharks and ray different varieties at the propriety A piece of paradise on earth Good staffs, nice and friendly may be need to improve in rapidity (i work in F&B so a bit picky lol) Good amenities Good excursion (we saw Manta Ray, unfortunately we try dolphin as well but didn’t manage to approach them) You can go there without risks to be disappointed We were staying in water villa

Isolated Island in the middle of the Indian ocean, serene sunsets, beautiful water, friendly and super helpful staff; just an extraordinary stay

though the food was amazing but it lacked authenticity, I’d have loved to try Maldivian food more to have the full foodie experience

The stuff is very friendly and understandable and helpful as well, and it’s a good location for relaxing and calming

The bugs could enter the room from anywhere the mosquitoes as well as other flying things that bothered us while sleeping even though we had the net over the bed but they still managed to get in while we sleeping! Also they food was okay not that good and tasty & super expensive for nothing. Also there was a problem for us to get to the restaurant or the bar or the reception at night because there weren’t enough light at the resort & we had to use our mobile flash light and you have to walk through the shells and the craps all over the place and it’s just scary because it’s very dark and you don’t see your path

the island is small bt perfect all around; white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. the villa is clean and well equipped with all that you need and our water villa had the most amazing view of the ocean.

the variety of food over the few days can be wider. but it is a small resort with not that many people so it may be challenging. food quality is alright.

Our Villa host, Asad is very friendly. The villa is very beautiful and clean and everything is well taken care of. Food buffet is very nice especially the dessert and the food from the Bar. We had chinese bento box and fettucini also coconut sorbet which we end up order another 2. We went for snorkelling around the resort and can see a lot of baby shark. Once we see a manta ray in front of our villa.

In room dining food was bad, we ordered blanco pizza and cant finish it. Also lobster spaghetti.. the spaghetti is too dry. We asked the receptionist lady to go for traditional fishing trip ( USD45 per pax, min 2 pax ) but she didnt encourage us to go, its a bit turn off. Feels like she trying to rippes us off. She asked us to take the sunset fishing which need min 4 pax or else we have to do private trip for USD200++ since there is only 2 of us.
